Community life is an essential element of the life of Friends of Christ, because it is all together that they work and put themselves at the service of the Gospel.
For brotherly support
The community life of the Friends of Christ aims at mutual aid and mutual support of its members, which implies: the sharing of each person's goods and skills, support and reciprocal affection between its members, discernment, in common , of God's will for the community and its mission.
In the communities of friends of Christ, everyone is recognized as brothers received from the Lord: young, old, healthy, sick. Each one according to his gifts is considered a wealth for others.
Diversity of origins
The communities of Friends of Christ are international: coming from different cultures, continents and countries, they are brought together by the Spirit of Pentecost. Diversities are received as riches and the search for unity between its members testifies to the reconciliation that Christ makes possible between people.
Close to people
The community of Friends of Christ wants to be close to the environment in which it lives and especially to the poor. She is in solidarity with what the populations among whom she finds herself are experiencing and shows interest in local culture and traditions.
It seeks to promote justice, peace and respect for creation, in social, economic, political and religious life.
In the Church with Christ
The communities of Friends of Christ are close to a larger community which is the Church. In solidarity with the local Church, they collaborate with it.
Community life takes as its model the community of Jesus with his apostles.
It is inspired by the ideal which animated the first Christian communities and it draws its motto: “One heart and one soul” (Acts 4, 32).
It draws its fullness from the sharing of the Word of God and the Eucharist.
Friends of Christ may be permitted to live outside of a community for mission purposes or other reasons. In these exceptional cases, they are invited to maintain regular contact with the nearest Friends of Christ community.
